Three years of nature education in Palade NS (26.05.2010)
Palade Nature Education Centre celebrates its 3rd anniversary. The Centre was opened in the premises of Palade School on 25th of May 2007 and it is a second centre to gain environmental education in Hiiumaa. During the celebrations the overview of three years of activities will be given and presented the study program Natural landscapes of Hiiumaa. At the same time, the exhibition of Finnish photographer Mika Kauraharju form Parkano “The Night light” is opened. Also, photos of Tiit Leito from the program Moments from Hiiumaa Nature with the music by Astrid Böning can be enjoyed.

White-tailed eagle nest camera 2010 (29.04.2010)
It seems to be just the right time to start observing the doings of Linda and Sulev, our white-tailed eagle pair from Läänemaa, in their nest again. Assisted by the Eagle Club (Kotkaklubi) and many other helping hands the camera was installed and all other necessary preparations made in January so as not to disturb the birds in their home. The camera goes on air on, March 3, 2010.

Nature centre in Palade school improves nature education (23.04.2010)
From the beginning of the new school year in September 2010, Palade Basic School (island of Hiiumaa, Estonia) introduce a new curricula strengthening nature education and health.
New curricula includes one additional lesson per week for children of 1-8 grades. Lessons will be supported with hiking trips, research and projects.
Palade Nature Centre was created within the Interreg project BSR EAGLE.
The Best Russia — EC project in the field of Culture (05.12.2009)
The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, European Commission and EC Delegation in Moscow organize an international seminar «Russia — EU: Signs on the Road Map of Cultural Cooperation», which will take place on 8 December 2009 in State Historical Musuem in Moscow. The plenary session of the seminar entitled: The Best Russia — EC projects in the field of Culture will be open by the presentation of the project « KenArt — European Cultural Bridge» carried out in the Kenozero National Park in the Archangelsk region in Russia and implemented in co-operation with European partners – Wallachian open-air museum (the Czech Republic), NGO Machaon International (Slovakia) and NGO “Archipelaag” (Estonia).
The KenArt project, which last for two years, is a unique form of co-operation when both local traditions as well as international cultural exchange are supported so that cultural collaboration between Russia and the EU is enhanced and the imaginary cultural bridge between the two regions of the same continent built. The project includes two large open-air exhibitions and a set of events culminating by a big cultural festival to be held in Kenozero area in summer 2010.
The main goals of the seminar in Moscow are to assess the current state of cultural co-operation between the Russia and the EU and showcasing of good co-operation practices, including joint projects implemented by Russia and the EU. Furthermore, the seminar will define priorities and potential focus areas of long-term cultural co-operation representing mutual interests for Russia and the EU. The selection of the KenArt project as one of the best projects helps to foster the preservation of the extraordinary cultural heritage of the region and is a honour to all participants of the project including local residents making the Kenozero a real unique place in Europe. Educators for the Baltic Sea Conference in Finland on 8.-10.9.2009 (06.07.2009)
It is our pleasure to invite you to the Educators for the Baltic Sea Conference in Finland on 8.-10.9.2009.
The conference will take place in Helsinki and Hyvinkää. It is targeted to educators and to everyone interested in the Baltic Sea. The conference offers an opportunity to dive into the latest knowledge from the Baltic Sea research, build educational scenarios for a Clean Baltic Sea on year 2020 in a Future Workshop and share concrete best practises for Baltic Sea education.
Conference events are free of charge. Participants have to cover travel expenses and meals.

Micro world in Palade Nature Centre (26.02.2009)
On 20th of February a new work shop was opened in Palade Nature Centre introducing our nature in microscopic scope. The aim of this exhibition/work shop is to teach children how to work with microscopes. "it is very exiting to observe gnathides of insects", said the director of the Nature Centre, Karin Poola. "Under the microscope, the gnathides of the mosquito seems to be rahter fearsome, eyes of fly look like huge kaleidoschopes. Children are very fascinated by this invisible world."
The work shop will be opened until 4th of March 2009.

Invitation to participate in “The Baltic Sea Lessons” program (18.02.2009)
The program worked out by SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg will help present the existing situation in the Baltic region, demonstrate the significance of the international cooperation in water use, become acquainted with the activity of the Helsinki commission, expand your view regarding the megalopolis influence on the Baltic Sea basin, show the possibilities of minimizing this influence, attract the youth and show their role in the solving these challenges.
The purpose of the Program is to attract the youth and citizens to living activities for saving water resources, help sustainable water use in their own way of life, realizing social significance of their activities on the international level.
The “The Baltic Sea Lessons” Program will take place from the 22nd of February to the 22nd of March 2009.

The Earthkeepers leadership workshop

Trainer; Bruce Johnson, Earthkeepers co-author and International Program. Coordinator for the Institute for Earth Education. Cost: 150 € (including food, accommodation and workshop materials). If you are offering Earthkeepers or considering offering it at your site or school and would like to….

- find out why specific components are included and participate in the processing of all program activities,
- examine props, discuss options, and meet people leading this program from other locations and situations,
then join us for this 2 ½ day workshop that will focus on the details of leading the Earthkeepers program. It is designed both for those who have a great deal of experience with the program and for those who will be offering the program in the near future.
This workshop is going be in English.

Leading Earthwalks Day - Leadership Workshop

Trainer: Jon Cree is Training Officer and Education officer at Bishops Wood and International Training Co-ordinator for Institute for Earth Education (IEE). He has been conducting earth education workshops throughout Europe for the last 10 years.
Cost: 80 € (including food and the workshop material) One of the most commonly led vehicles for encouraging people to 'live more harmoniously and joyously with the natural world' is an earthwalk- a light, refreshing touch of nature that focuses on reawakening individual senses and sharpening perceptions in the natural world (using a series of special activities). This workshop will help you learn how to lead these 'light, refreshing touches of the natural world, focussing on the senses'.
What you will gain:
• An introduction to earth education and where earthwalks 'fit'
• chance to plan and review your own earthwalk
• Experience two different earthwalks
• Tips on leadership of earthwalks
• An update on earth education developments
The day starts at 8.30 and finishes at 17.00 with indoor and outdoor sessions including;

EAGLE network project meeting in Hiiumaa (30.09.2008)
EAGLE network calls for the meeting in Hiiumaa, on 5-7 November 2008 (possible to arrive on 4ht of Nov) . The aim of the meeting is to prepare for the next project applications on nature education and networking of nature centres in BSR. The meeting is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and Foundation Tuuru.
